Charles E. Reid

Charles T. Reid, 94, Rockford, has been carried to Heaven by a band of angels as he passed from death into eternal life on Friday, June 29, 2012.

Charles was born in Buffalo Lake, Minn., on Aug. 11, 1917 and moved to Illinois where he married his lady pastor, Dorothy (Canfield) Reid on Feb. 3, 1944.

Charles has lived a full life working as a watch repairman for more than 70 years in the Rockford and Oregon areas.

He loved his family, his church, Rockford First Church of the Nazarene, southern gospel music and his Pepsi.

Charles was a loving father to Vern (Jackie) Reid, JoAnn Reid, and Joyce Reid.  He is also survived by three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy, and his great-grandson, Sterling.

A Celebration of Life Service was scheduled on Tuesday, July 3 at 11 a.m. at the Rockford First Church of the Nazarene, 4503 Charles St., Rockford.

Visitation was set to begin at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Burial was scheduled at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Cemetery, near Chana.

Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon, is assisting the family with arrangements.
