Duane L. Johnson

Duane L. Johnson, 58, Polo, died unexpectedly in Mt. Morris on Monday, July 23, 2012.

He worked for Dixon Elks Club, Polo Co-op, and farmed in the Polo area for many years.

Duane was born in Freeport, the son of Neil Johnson and Jacqueline Kielsmeier.

He married Doreen Winters on Aug. 1, 1998 in Nashua, Iowa.

Duane was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  He was a lot of things to a lot of people.

Duane enjoyed driving his tractor, gardening, camping, boating, and most of all spending time with his family and animals.

Survivors include wife, Doreen;  parents, Neil Johnson and Jacqueline Kielsmeier; daughters, Serenea Robare, Roscoe, Hilary Johnson, Dixon, Catrinea Shaw, Dixon, Sarah Olek, Dixon, Alecsis (Sunny Larsen) Pope, Polo; son, Zachary Johnson, Dixon; sisters, Pamela (Clarence) Turek, Rockford, Kim (Mike) Bowman, Polo, Crystal (Darin) Rodgers, Casper, Wyo.; brother, Dennis Johnson, Mt. Morris; grandchildren, Lacy, Aaliyah and Reese Johnson, Haleigh Geerts, Jadyn and Jeremiah Jr. Settles, Mariah Howard, Anszely Pope, Demetree Larsen; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Lester and Vera Johnson, Irvin and Hazel Kielsmeier; grandson, Joseph Geerts; and nephew, Timothy Bowman.

A celebration of his life will be Sunday, Aug. 5 from 4 to 8:30 p.m. at the Elks Club, Ill. 38, Dixon.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Arrangements were completed by Polo Family Funeral Home, Polo.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
