Johanna G. Funk

Johanna G. Funk, 76, Baileyville, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport.

Johanna was born on Oct. 1, 1936, in Rochelle, the daughter of Fred and Helen (Joeston) Alderks.

She married Robert A. Funk on Sept. 8, 1956, in Kings.

She was a member of North Grove Evangelical Church and the 60s Alive Club.

She did volunteer work for the New Life Community Center, Forreston, and Immanuel Lutheran School, Freeport.

Johanna enjoyed boating on the Rock River and spending time with her family and friends.

She enjoyed following her children's and grandchildren’s activities more than anything.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; two sons, Jeff (Nancy) Funk, Chicago and  Jerry (Holly) Funk, Freeport; two  daughters:  Lynn (Rod) Genandt, Forreston and  Lori (Tim) Gipper, Mt. Morris; her  brother, Marvin (Marilyn) Alderks, Rochelle; six grandchildren, Krysta (Ben) Dittmar, Andrew (Dani) Genandt, Kyle and Jordan Gipper, and Haley and Taylor Funk; and three great-grandchildren, Paige and Khloe Dittmar and Aria Genandt.

Johanna was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at North Grove Evangelical Church, rural Forreston, with Rev. Tom Hotchkiss officiating.

A visitation was also scheduled from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Burial will be in North Grove Evangelical Cemetery.

Arrangements were completed by Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Forreston.

Memorials have been established for F.H.N. Hospice and North Grove Evangelical Church.
