Mt. Morris food pantry provided 152 turkeys and all the trimmings
The Mt. Morris Loaves and Fish Food Pantry Board of Directors would like to publicly acknowledge the generous community support of the pantry’s effort to provide a Thanksgiving dinner to each family who utilizes the food pantry.
Thanks to the gifts of many churches, businesses and individuals we were able to provide 152 turkeys and all of the trimmings to families on Nov. 16.
Each turkey and accompanying sides was enough to feed a family of 8.
We would also like to thank everyone who shared of their time to unload the turkeys and boxes and to help distribute the meals.
There were so many smiles and words of thanks from those who received the meals!
Thank you for being such a blessing to those who struggle to meet the food needs of their families.

Sixth grader should be commended for anti-ltter stance
Thank you, Mady Russell, for helping to keep Dillehay Park clean and beautiful.
In a recent letter to the editor, sixth grade student Mady Russell, expressed her concerns about people who throw their litter on the ground instead of in the trash cans; it is hard to understand why anyone would throw litter where it doesn’t belong, then pay taxes to hire workers to pick it up.
I am so proud of you, Mady, for helping our park employees keep Dillehay Park clean and writing a letter to the editor to encourage everyone to help keep our parks clean.
The Park and Recreation Board is currently developing a long range plan for developing and maintaining facilities needed and purchasing of new equipment for all Mt. Morris parks.
The plan will assist village officials to develop budgets and set priorities for park projects.
We will be having a public meeting in early 2013 to get ideas for future development of the parks and recreational opportunities for all Mt. Morris residents to enjoy.
We would especially like ideas from our young people. We invite you to attend the public meeting or any Park and Recreation Board meeting on the second Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at the village hall. All meetings are open to the public.
