Judith K. Dees

Judith “Judy” K. Dees, 69, Freeport, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport. 

She was born on May 28, 1943, in Edwardsville, the daughter of Ernest and Ethel (Foehrkolb) Dees.  

Judy worked for Burgess Battery, W. T. Rawleigh Company, she was a Micro Switch group leader for 25 years, and she also worked as a substitute teacher caller for the Freeport School District. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, an avid Chicago Bear fan, and enjoyed traveling. Her family was very important to her.  

Survivors include her sister, Carol (Roy) Grossenbacher; special friend, Electa Trei, Freeport; other special friends, Michael (Vicki) Diestelmeier, Freeport, and their children, Jodi (Rob) Barber, and their children, Jessica and Tyler Barber, and their children Jori (Brian) Nott, and their son Tanner; three nephews, Mike Grossenbacher, Randy (Cami) Grossenbacher, and Danny Grossenbacher; three great-nephews, Nic, Corbin, and Justin; two great-nieces Zaylinn and Ashton; friend, Shanon Duncan; and Judy’s special four-legged friend, Bridgett.

Judith was preceded in death by her parents and two nephews, Mark and Ricky.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Freeport, with Pastor Mark Luepke officiating. 

Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church.

Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
