Duane Hagemann

Duane “Digger” Hagemann, 82, Mt. Morris, died Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Swedish American Hospital, Rockford.  

Duane was born Oct.6, 1930 in Freeport, the son of Herman and Ella (Avey) Hagemann.  

He graduated from Mt. Morris High School class of 1949.  

Duane served in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953.  

He married Nancy Lizer on Feb. 3, 1951 in Mt. Morris. 

Duane worked in the finishing department in Kable Printing Company, Mt. Morris, for 40 years, where he served as a supervisor for several years.  

He was a school bus driver for 10 years in the Mt. Morris School District.  

Duane served as the Mt. Morris Township assessor for 12 years.  

He was a member of the Mt. Morris Church of the Brethren.  

He was a member of the Mt. Morris American Legion Post 143 and the Oregon VFW Post 8739.  

He was also a member of the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge 1551.  

Duane loved to golf, and he loved watching all sports.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Hagemann, Mt. Morris; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arnold, Jerry, and Charles; and sister, Iola.

Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday March 6 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mt. Morris Church of the Brethren with Rev. Virginia Haney officiating.  

Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris.

Arrangements were completed by Finch Funeral Home, 405 E. Hitt St., Mt. Morris. 

Memorials may be made to the Mt. Morris Senior Center or Mt. Morris Church of the Brethren.
