Frances Elizabeth Sharick, 99, a lifelong Oregon resident, died peacefully at her family home of 88 years on Friday, June 7, 2013.

She was born May 9, 1914 in Aurora, the daughter of Rupert “Roy” and Alphia (Rousel) Sharick, a birthday gift to her father.

After graduating from Oregon High School in 1932, Frances went to work for Kable Printing Company in Mt. Morris until her retirement in 1973.

She was an innovator at Kable’s, as she was one of the first women to be trained in computers.

Frances and her sister, Mary Jane, were proud members of the Rockford Diocesan Chorale program for many years.

They traveled and gave concerts throughout the Diocese.

St. Mary Catholic Church and its woman’s organization, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, were Francis’ passions.

As a church member, she held many positions within the church and the CDA.

When her mother Alphia passed away in 1970s, the church, at the time, had nothing in place to welcome mourners after the funeral services were complete.

Frances and her father Roy initiated the idea of having a luncheon following the funeral service. She chaired this program until 2012.

She is survived by a niece, Pamela (Mark) Strzesak, Savoy; nephew, Patrick (Susan) Sharick, Champaign; great-niece, Mandi (Brack) Dean, Leroy; great-nephews, Andrew and Matthew Sharick, Champaign; and great -great-nephew and niece, Scott and Faith Dea, Leroy.

She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Mary Jane; and brothers, Horace and Chester.

Funeral Mass will be held  Wednesday, June 19 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Oregon preceded by a visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. in the church.

Father William Budden, former pastor of the church, will be the celebrant.

Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Oregon.

The family asks all to join them for coffee and desserts in the St. Mary Church basement following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Frances’ name to Rock River Center, Oregon, or Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon.

Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon assisted the family with arrangements.
