Edith A. Fridley
Edith A. Fridley, 89, lifelong Oregon resident, died Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Pinecrest Manor, Mt. Morris.
She was born Feb. 24, 1924 in Oregon, the daughter of James M. and Sarah (Himes) White.
She married Richard A. Fridley on May 5, 1943 in Oregon; he died Jan. 8, 2005.
Edith was a graduate of the first class from Rockford Business College and with her husband owned and operated Fridley Motors until 1984.
She was a proud member of Oregon Church of God and its Dorcas and Mary and Martha groups, and served as a Deaconess, head of funeral luncheons, junior choir director, a religious education teacher and other positions.
She was formerly a Girl Scout leader and past-president of Oregon VFW Auxiliary and Sixth District VFW Auxiliary.
Edith enjoyed quilting, sewing, flower gardening, Bible study, working with children, and she loved to travel.
She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Noon, Oregon, and Jeanne (Michael) Baker, Rhinelander, Wis.; grandchildren, Le Ann Oltmanns, Jennifer (Felipe) Rodriguez, Alan (Melody) Noon, Lori (Ken) Smoll, and Pamela (Paul) Butler; and great-grandchildren: Matt and Molly Oltmanns, Bryce and Brenna Noon, Aelsa, Elliott and Robin Butler, and Anna, Collin and Elise Smoll.
She was also predeceased by her parents; sisters, Nancy Croft and Laura Singer; and son-in-law, Arnold Noon.
The funeral service was held June 15 at Oregon Church of God with Pastor Michael Hoffman officiating.
Burial was at Riverview Cemetery, Oregon.
