Robert F. Cripe
Robert Freeman Cripe, always known as Bob, 59, Baldwin, Wis., passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 18, 2013.
Bob was born in Dixon, (the hometown of President Ronald Reagan) on July 30, 1953 to Robert and Alberta (Swanlund) Cripe.
He grew up on a dairy farm and graduated from Polo Community High School, Polo, in 1972.
He married Nina Torchia on Aug. 28, 1982 in Princeton. Born to this union were two children: Andrea and Alex.
In 1994, they moved to their farm north of Baldwin.
He spent the majority of his adult life as a professional home remodeling contractor and custom farm baler.
He loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, hunting, and working in his wood shop.
He was an avid member of the NRA and the Harley Owners Group.
Every morning he would enjoy long walks with his two dogs, Moose and Molly.
He is survived by his wife, Nina; two children, Andrea and Alex; sisters, Jean Irwin, Primghar, Iowa, Sara (Keith) Baal, Madison, Wis., Mary Crawford, Polo; brother, Doug Cripe, Champagne; mother, Alberta Cripe, Polo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his father, Robert Freeman Cripe; and two brothers-in-law, Larry Irwin and Rich Crawford.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Rich’s life was held on June 22 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home-Baldwin Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred in Bob’s name to the Disabled American Veterans Fund, which accepts donations by cash, check, money order, and credit card.
