Marvin L. Garst, 79, Polo, died Saturday, July 6, 2013, at his home.
He worked for Woods Equipment Company, Oregon, for more than 30 years before retiring.
Marvin was born Jan. 12, 1934 in Polo, the son of Virgil and Amanda (Henson) Garst.
He married Donna Hoffman on Oct. 31, 1959 in Polo. She preceded him in death in 2000.
Marvin was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Gittleson, Oregon; sons, Patrick (Cinda) Garst, Peoria, and Tracey (Kim) Garst, Winnebago; sister, Gladys Ausmus, Chatham; grandchildren, Scotty (Amy), Samantha (Jason), Kristen, Ashleigh (Nick), Zach, Breana, Dalton, and Ryan; great-grandchildren Aiden, Aaron, and Kade.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Willis; sisters, Hazel and Betty; and brothers, Robert, Donald Junior, and Sherrill.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Polo Family Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Dixon.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Polo Family Funeral Home.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
