Douglas A. Pettigrew

Douglas A. Pettigrew, 85, Peru, died on Monday, June 30, 2014 at his home.

Douglas was born May 7, 1929 in Peru to Douglas and Selma (Camenisch) Pettigrew. 

He married Sharon Vaccaro on June 15, 1993 in Lake Tahoe. 

Douglas was an active member of the Loyal Order of Moose and a member of the National Rifle Association. 

He retired as a proofreader in the printing industry in Mt. Morris and Oregon.

Douglas is survived by his wife, Sharon; four children, David (Jan) Pettigrew, Wheaton; Deb Fulton, Bloomington-Normal; Sherrie (Bill) Snyder, Carlock; and Karen (Tom) Orrick, Bloomington-Normal; a special nephew, Zach Trump, Peru; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bill; and his sister, Marilyn.

Funeral services were held July 3 at the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru, with Rev. Dale Pederson, pastor of First Congregational Church of Peru officiating.  Burial followed in Peru City Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Illinois Valley Animal Rescue, Illinois Valley PADS, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the donor’s choice.
