Marilyn Butler

Marilyn J. Butler, 89, Franklin Grove, died Saturday July 12, 2014 in her home.

She was born Feb. 9, 1925 in Rockford, the daughter of Richard and Wanda (Poorman) Knott.

She married Donald F. Butler Sr. in Oregon on Aug. 30, 1963. He died in 2002.

Marilyn was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Franklin Grove, the Franklin Grove Women’s Club, was a founding member of Oregon Golf Club, and was an avid golfer.

She and Donald owned and operated Frank N. Butler Company quarries.

Survivors include her grandson, Kevin (Kelly) Jones and their daughter Abigail, Amboy; step-children, Don (Pat) Butler Jr., Amboy, and Mary Louise Bennett, Franklin Grove; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and cousin, Melinda Pellino, Sun Prairie, Wis.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Robert Jones, step-daughter, Judith Erickson, and step-son-in-law, Dale Bennett.

Funeral services were held on July 15 at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon, with Rev. Myron Bartell officiating.

Burial was at Franklin Grove Cemetery.
