Ogle County Sheriff Michael Harn reports the following activity.

May 26

At about 6:06 p.m., deputies, along with the Byron Fire Department, responded to the 5000 block of N. German Church Road in reference to a one vehicle accident with injuries.

The driver, Dakota J. Wright, 16, Byron, reported that he was southbound at that location when a vehicle ran him off the roadway. His vehicle, a 2004 Chevy Blazer, entered the west ditch and overturned.

Wright was transported to Rockford Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. The accident remains under investigation.

At about 9:10 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the Shangri-La Trailer Park in reference to a domestic problem.

Upon completing an investigation into the incident, Armando Vazquez, 37, Rochelle, was arrested for domestic battery following an incident with a pregnant household member. Vazquez was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held pending an appearance before a judge.

May 27

Dmitry Obrien, 26, (no town listed) was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear. Obrien was transported to the Ogle County Jail where his bond was set at $7,946.77 pending a court appearance.

Jeromiah Martin, 25, (no town listed) was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear. Martin was transported to the Ogle County Jail where his bond was set at $1,234 pending a court appearance.

Kimberly Smallwood, 49, Alaska, was arrested on an warrant for attempt to elude. Smallwood was transported to the Ogle County Jail where her bond was set at $75,000 pending a court appearance.

David Clark, 52, Rockford, was arrested on a warrant for contempt of court. Clark’s bond was set at $2,478 pending a May 28 court appearance.

Thomas Scheele, 54, DeKalb, was arrested on a warrant for violating an order of bail bond. Scheele’s bond was set at $20,000 pending a May 28 court appearance.

May 28

John Hicks, 40, Chana, was arrested for unlawful trespass to railroad property. Hicks was held in lieu of bond at the Ogle County Jail.

Deputies responded to Davis Junction for a report of a reckless driver.  After a short investigation, Joseph Simmons, 21, Davis Junction, was arrested for reckless driving, possession of cannabis, and possession of drug equipment. Simmons was also issued citations for no insurance and having an improper driver’s license classification. Simmons was taken to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

At approximately 10:37 p.m., deputies along with the Illinois State Police were dispatched to White Pines State Park in reference to a group of loud subjects. After an investigation, Bailey R. Hoover, 19, Oregon, was arrested for possession of cannabis. Hoover was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

At 11:50 a.m., deputies along with the Byron Fire Department, and Byron Ambulance responded to a vehicle vs. motorcycle accident with injuries in the 10,000 block of N. Ill. 2. 

Alam Rush, 53, Rockford, was driving an orange and black Harley Davidson motorcycle north on Ill. 2 and had slowed to turn into a private drive when Matthew W. Kolve, 28, Dixon, who was driving a black Jeep Liberty north on Ill. 2 rear ended Rush’s motorcycle.

Rush was transported to Swedish American Hospital by Byron Ambulance with minor facial and leg injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.

May 29

Chelsie J. Smith, 30, Freeport, was arrested on a warrant for possession of cannabis. Smith’s posted 10% of a $3,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 20.

Blake M. Oatt, 20, Skokie, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for speeding. Oatt posted 10% of a $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 18.

At approximately 5:05 p.m., deputies responded to Ill. 72 and Mulford Road for a two-vehicle accident with minor injuries.

It was learned that Ryan Miller, 27, Davis Junction, failed to reduce speed causing his vehicle to collide with the rear of a vehicle driven by David Hindenburg, 45, Rockford.

Both men were transported to Rockford Hospitals for minor injuries.

Miller received a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Deputies were assisted by Monroe Center Fire and Ambulance, Kirkland Ambulance and the Illinois State Police. The accident remains under investigation.

At 10:28 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on a silver Chevy SUV in the 13,000 block of E. Ill. 64.

After a short investigation, Barry Sanders Jr., 35, Kings, was arrested on a warrant and driving without a license. Sanders was transported to the Ogle County Jail and where he was held in lieu of bond.

May 30

Brian Berglund, 51, Rockford, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear. Berglund was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he posted $326 as bond.

Jeffery J. Feltz, 44, Mt. Morris, was arrested at 6:52 p.m. for driving while license suspended and cited for no valid registration, improper use of registration, and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 3000 block of W. Ill. 64.

May 31

On 05.31.2014 at 5:05 p.m., deputies responded to an ATV accident on private property at 6318 E. Ill. 72.  Upon arrival deputies met with Mauricio Luna Jr. He stated he came up a blind hill and at the top hit a pile of cut firewood.

He sustained an injury to his right knee and was being treated for transport by Stillman Valley Fire personnel to be taken to Rockford Memorial Hospital.

Rebecca Thompson, 49, Davis Junction, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear. Thompson posted $261 full cash for bond and has no further court appearance required.

At approximately 6:19 p.m., deputies initiated a traffic stop in the 300 block of E. Hitt St. in Mt. Morris. Pursuant to an investigation, William F. Spencer, 27, Mt. Morris, was arrested for two counts of violation of the drug paraphernalia act and for violation of the cannabis control act. Spencer was also cited for improper display of license plate, obstructed view, and operating an uninsured vehicle.

Fisher-Zavaleta, 47, Sycamore, was arrested at 6:05 p.m. for not having a valid driver’s license after a traffic stop in the 300 block of S. Main St in Rochelle. Zavaleta was transported to the Ogle County Jail. He was also cited for failure to wear a seat belt and use of an electronic communication device.

At approximately 10:35 p.m., deputies responded to a domestic battery complaint in the 8000 block of N. Main Street in Adeline. Pursuant to an investigation, Krystal M. Ridenhour, 29, Adeline, was arrested for domestic battery.

June 1

Corey G. Collins, 23, Rochelle, was arrested on a warrant for a failure to appear. Collins’ bond was set at $1,920 pending a June 2 court appearance.

Joshua Silva, 21, Dekalb, was arrested on warrants for petition to revoke and failure to appear. Silva was scheduled to appear in court on June 2.

Cody S. Campbell, 29, Polo, was arrested at 6:11 p.m. for driving while license suspended, violation of the drug paraphernalia act, and violation of the cannabis control act following a traffic stop in the 3000 block of W. Ill. 64.

Erica Cabral, 22, Rochelle, was arrested on a warrant for a failure to appear. Cabral posted $1,029.81 full cash for bond and has no further court appearances required.

June 2

Andrew Garkey, 27, Winnebago, was arrested in Boone County on warrants for failure to appear, burglary, and theft. His bond were set at $6,771 and $75,000 pending a June 3 court appearance.

Noah A Hamilton, 22, Rockford, was arrested on warrant for failure to appear. His bond was set at$1,213.20 pending a June 3 court date.

At approximately 9:29 p.m., deputies along with the Forreston Police Department, Forreston Fire Department, and Forreston EMS were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Ill. 26 and Coffman Road.

After an investigation it was learned that a vehicle was parked, facing northbound, in the middle of the intersection when another vehicle traveling northbound struck the parked vehicle.

Michael Bartelt, 46, Rock City, was transported to Freeport Memorial Hospital by Midwest Medics for non-life threatening injuries.

Nicholas Colsch, 57, Waukon, Iowa, was transported to Freeport Memorial Hospital by Forreston EMS for his injuries.

Colsch was cited for driving a vehicle without lights when required and improper parking in the roadway.

Haldane Towing removed both vehicles from the location.

June 3

At 7:04 a.m., deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 5000 block of Lowell Park Road. The driver of the vehicle, Tyson D. Miller, 27, Beloit, Wis., arrested for driving with a suspended driver’s license. He was also cited for speeding.
